Great football quotes

To say that these men paid their shillings to watch twenty-two hirelings kick a ball is merely to say that a violin is wood and catgut, that Hamlet is so much paper and ink. ~J.B. Priestley, The Good Companions, 1928

If this can be termed the century of the common man, then soccer, of all sports, is surely his game.... In a world haunted by the hydrogen and napalm bomb, the football field is a place where sanity and hope are still left unmolested. ~Stanley Rous, 1952

Concerning football playing, I protest to you it may rather be called a friendly kind of fighting, rather than recreation. ~Author Unknown

In Latin America the border between soccer and politics is vague. There is a long list of governments that have fallen or been overthrown after the defeat of the national team. ~Luis Suarez

If you're attacking, you don't get as tired as when you're chasing. ~Kyle Rote, Jr.

I get a kick out of soccer. ~Author Unknown

The rest of the world loves soccer. Surely we must be missing something. Uh, isn't that what the Russians told us about communism? Inspirational Soccer Quotes and Funniest Soccer Quotes.
To be honest, I am not too sure what the difference in between an 'Inspirational' quote and a 'Motivational' quote is, if there is a difference!

Therefore this hub should probably be considered a continuation from the Inspirational hub (and vice versa). Apologies to any 'American Football' fans that may have found this thread looking for quotes from American Footballers, you will know this game as 'soccer' however I am from the UK and referring to 'Football' as anything other than 'Soccer' is slightly shameful....

I feel like a sell out for using the word 'Soccer' in my previous hubs! Anyway, to the point, here is a list of Motivational Football Quotes as found throughout the world wide web

I LOVE FOOTBALL BECAUSE...

I LOVE FOOTBALL BECAUSE...
I love football because when I was young everything we had in Madeira was football. Since I was young all I have been doing is playing football or watching football and those are the reasons I love football.

MY FOOTBALLING HERO IS...
Figo, because we looked quite similar on the pitch. I loved the way he played, I love the way he does everything. Ever since the Euro 2000 when he scored two goals against England he has been my favourite player and idol and so I try to imitate him.

"Enthusiasm is everything. It must taut and vibrating like a guitar string." - Pele

About me

Wilson Freitas

Where it all started

I come from a very large family
(7 brothers and sisters)

So, as you can imagine, it hasn't been easy on any one.
My passion for football started when I was only 7, So, my father took me to  Andorinha football club, where I've started playing as a striker.

I rapidly took the number 9 and kept it for 2 years,
At the same time the manager was training me to play on the wings and with booth feet, which I do till now

Here we go !

Finally, I'm going to start blogging !
This will be my window to the world, the way they see me and the way I see the football world.

A few friends have been pushing me to create one, here it is !
Hopefully, I'll have a few readers and followers...

Have fun, I will !

Thanks for reading and I hope all my time and effort helps (or at least entertains) you on many levels.

Sincerely,
Wilson
